Transfer Credit Evaluations

Transfer credit will be evaluated course-by-course, based upon the student’s declared degree or certificate. Grades of "C" or better will be accepted in transfer. Per the Colorado Department of Higher Education, all guaranteed transfer (GT) courses will be accepted for 10 years from the semester the start of the semester they were taken. All other courses and out of state classes will follow the timelines decided by the specific departments based on how quickly course material and the field the course resides in changes.

Below are the time frames for non-GT courses and for out of state courses:

Arts & Humanities, English, History, Social & Behavioral Science

Accepted Indefinitely

Math

20 years

Education, Science

7 years

Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Computer Networking, Computer Science

5 years

Paralegal

10 years

Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, and Health Professional

2 years or department review of credentials

All courses not covered by this process will be evaluated by the Credentials Evaluator and exceptions will be at the discretion of the academic department where the course lies.

To initiate the evaluation process, students should send official transcripts, directly from their prior college or university. CCA will generally evaluate credits earned from regionally accredited colleges and universities.

The Credentials Evaluator will transfer in appropriate courses after students have completed all of the following:

  • Complete an Admissions Application and declare the desired degree/certificate
  • Speak with an academic advisor for a review of your unofficial transcripts
  • Please visit www.CCAurora.edu/transfer-in for transfer details.

It is recommended for students, who have international transcripts, to speak with an academic advisor or the Credentials Evaluator first. International transcripts must be submitted to a NACES-approved agency for evaluation, and translation, if necessary. Please visit https://www.ccaurora.edu/file/download/25991 for further instructions.

Please note: The total number of transfer credits into any program will not exceed 75% of the total program to ensure students meet the 25% residency requirement for graduation.

It is the responsibility of the student to provide all required documents. Credits are typically evaluated and posted to the student record within 30 days of receipt. Notification of the completed evaluation will be sent to student emails. Students may also review their transfer credits through Degree Check by going to www.ccaurora.edu, logging into their MyCCA account, and then clicking on the Student Tab. Documents become the property of the college and will not be released to the student or transferred to other institutions.
