0-12 Credit hours                 TBA Contact hours

Introduces high school teachers to Recombinant DNA Technology as it is used in biomedical research. Basic information on the structure and function of DNA as the genetic material is briefly covered before the students are guided through a series of laboratory exercises designed to give hands on experience with some of the more important techniques used in current molecular biology. This laboratory experience will prepare them to teach the same techniques to students in their high school class room Techniques used include: DNA isolation, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis, and bacterial transformation
