Homeland Security: Tactical Operations Certificate

The Homeland Security: Tactical Operations certificate helps prepare the student for entry-level jobs in Homeland Security with the DHS Federal Protective Service, as well as with TSA. The certificate provides further Homeland Security education to law enforcement personnel with no previous Homeland Security background who may be able to use the certificate for internal advancement. Students explore Homeland Security history, theory, and application; intelligence issues and security; transportation and border security; terrorism; applicable federal laws; and tactical mitigation techniques for both criminal and emergency management issues. While this  program is considered a stand-alone certificate; courses will transfer to the AAS/CRJ degree and may transfer to some four-year degree programs. Be advised that most positions in Homeland Security do require a Bachelor's degree, with the exception of entry TSA TSO positions. This specialized certificate program requires Chair admission approval.
